Figure Drawing Workshop Series
In this workshop series, each session will be different as we vary our approach to the figure and creative process. There will be a life model at each workshop. The figure can be used as a starting point for experimental artwork, or to strengthening our understanding of anatomy, proportions and accuracy for more realistic drawings. In all workshops students will receive one-on-one feedback on their artwork, and there will be demonstrations by the instructor.

Experimental Figure Drawing:
October 22nd - 23rd
Free up the way you approach drawing in this experimental life drawing workshop. In this workshop, creativity and expression is prioritized over accuracy.
You will use a range of materials to encourage you to respond to drawing in new and non-traditional ways and try out new and interesting mark making processes. We will focus mostly on quick gestural poses, and each student will finish the workshop with a collection of new drawings.
Anatomy of the Figure:
December 4th
In this workshop students will focus on accuracy in their figure drawings. We will start the workshop by discussing the skeletal system and which reference points are important for artists to know, and how they effect the movement and shape of the body. We will then apply this knowledge to drawing from the model, building the form from the inside out starting with the skeletal system. This is essential to artists who want to have accurate figure drawings where the figure feels solid and believable.
The Figure in Ink:
November 20th
This workshop will focus on using ink to draw the figure. We will start with using ink for line drawings and quick gestural poses, and build to longer poses using ink washes to develop shading and form. This medium can be used to explore the figure in either a more accurate or experimental way, at the discretion of each student.
